Welcome to Leeds Marrow

Leeds Marrow is a student-run branch of the Anthony Nolan charity.

Throughout the year, we run events around campus where we sign people onto the stem cell register. We also run lots of fundraisers and socials too!

Who are Leeds Marrow?

We are a student-run branch of the Anthony Nolan charity. We spend our free time helping to save the lives of people with blood cancer by signing people on the stem cell register, raising money and spreading awareness!

Why is Marrow so important?

For people with leukaemia and other blood cancers, a stem cell transplant can often be their last chance & it can be lifesaving for them.

They first look to their family members for a donor but unfortunately, 70% do not find one. Therefore, they need complete strangers who are on the Anthony Nolan register to be a lifesaving match for them.

At the moment, only 60% of people are able to find a match and this reduces to just 20% if the person is from an ethnic minority background. To increase these chances of finding a match, we need more people on the register, so come along to one of our events and help us sign more people up.

Signing each of those people up costs £40 so we raise money to help the charity to do this, as well as support patients and donors throughout their journey.
